The FLAME Awards have been established to honor the leadership, academic excellence, mentorship, and global contributions of women in Emergency Medicine. These awards recognize women at different stages of their careers who have advanced the field through research, teaching, clinical practice, and leadership. In alignment with FLAME’s mission, the awards celebrate not only individual achievements but also the collective effort to empower women, foster academic excellence, and drive meaningful change worldwide. Presented across five distinct categories, the FLAME Awards highlight inspiring role models who pave the way toward a stronger, more inclusive future in Emergency Medicine.

Aspiring Academic
Resident or attending consultant out of residency less than 5 years who has published a research paper in the past year (no case reports) that advances knowledge in EM or advances the cause of women inside medicine. First, second or last author.

Outstanding Academician
A woman out of residency for at least 10 years who has a strong record of teaching residents, doing research, publication and presentation at both national and international conferences and meetings

Aspiring Leader
A member of FLAME who has taken an active role in advancing FLAME 's mission AND has served a leadership role in a national organization in her country with distinction.

Mentor of the Year
Mid-level career woman (5-15 years out ) who has been an advocate of women in EM, a mentor to more junior women and a contributor to workshops/seminars/ publications/ other similar works on work-life balance for women at all stages of their careers in EM

The WACEM Pinnacle Award
A woman more than 15 years out of residency who has made significant and sustained impact in all four areas of EM competency: teaching, research, clinical skills and administration/service. Must include international service, and specifically service to FLAME and WACEM must be included.
